Q: How long is a residency?
A residency is 6 consecutive weeks.
Q: How much does the residency pay?
Each residency pays a total of $2,500.
Q: Do you provide payment for my supplies?
Yes. We can reimburse up to $500 for art supplies used during the residency, or artists can provide the library with a supply list.
Q: What mediums can the library accommodate?
The residency takes place in the library's main area. We are able unable accommodate mediums and equipment that produce excessive fumes, sounds, and mess. Please email mhilquist [at] veronapubliclibrary.org (mhilquist[at]veronapubliclibrary[dot]org) if you have any questions about this.
Q: Does the library provide housing or reimbursement for travel?
There is no additional payment for housing or travel.
Q: Can I apply for both 2025 residencies at once?
No. Applications are accepted for each residency separately.
Q: Who can apply?
Any person 18+ is eligible to apply. City of Verona employees are not eligible to apply.
Q: What information do you ask on the application?
In addition to basic personal information, we also ask that you supply:
- Experience (such as teaching a class or workshop)
- Artist Statement (Insight into your art process, medium(s) you use, themes and significance of your work, etc.)
- Link(s) to social media, online portfolio, and/or digital copies of your work (to be emailed separately)
- Description of residency project ideas including community engagement ideas (events and/or public engagement)
Q: Should my artist statement/experience section be a certain length? Do you require a certain number of artwork examples?
No, however please include all relevant information you would like us to have.
Q: How will my artwork be used?
If selected, artwork you submit in your application as well as artwork created during the residency will be used to promote your residency and may be used to promote future residencies. All artwork will be credited.
